Basic Rifle

Our Basic Rifle Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting.

This course is at least 8 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, standing; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development.

Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester Marksmanship Qualification booklet.

RIFLE CLASS

The costs of classes are $175.00, which includes a box of ammo and use of firearms (if needed). We cover different types of actions, bolt, lever, semi auto rifles we provide a choice of several different rifles to use. You will be shooting different actions, this way you can get the feeling of how each will feel. Part of the basic course is for you to get an idea of what to look for when you purchase. Classes not only cover firearms and how they function, but also ammunition, its parts, and the right ammo for your firearm. It covers ammo malfunctions and how to handle them.

If you are bringing a firearm, bring into classroom in case. THERE IS NO LIVE AMMO IN CLASS! After class time (4 to 5 hrs.), we will break for lunch. You can brown bag or stop on the way to the range. (About 20 mins) The range is an old gravel pit used for shooting – conditions are rough at best. Once at range we all shoot both bench and standing positions. After we get our fill of live fire, we return to field strip and clean whatever firearm you used. Please remember class is a FULL DAY, but a fun day.

WE SHOOT OUTDOORS SO DRESS FOR THE WEATHER, CLOSED TOE SHOES ARE SUGGESTED. WE SHOOT RAIN OR SHINE, WE ONLY STOP FOR HEAVY RAINS OR STORMS and will reschedule if need be. Remember everyone needs to bring hearing and eye protection. For those bringing a firearm, bring the manual. Any additional questions please call.
