Personal Protection / In-Home

Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and course completion.

The first part of our day will be spent in the classroom, we break for lunch, you can stop on way to range or brown bag it. We shoot outdoors at a gravel pit so conditions are rough at best, dress for weather, proper footwear required. We shoot in all-weather unless there is lighting (we reschedule). Students should expect to shoot approximately 150 rounds of ammunition.

Canopies will be up for shade or rain if possible.

Students, you’ll need:
• Safety
• Understanding
• Patience
• Hearing and eye protection
• Hat
• Bug juice and sun block
• Dress for weather
• Handgun –ANY CALIBER
• Owner’s manual for gun(s) used
• Appropriate clothing for kneeling squatting
• Knee pads if needed
• Strong side hip holster – outside the pant style – must cover trigger guard with gun in place.
• (Optional). but, makes it easier on range Two speed loaders or magazines.
• 150 rounds of ammunition for gun(s) used — no magnum or hollow point
• Personal refreshments, if needed.
